We hold ourselves to the highest standard

For more than 185 years, your safety and the safety of your world has been at the heart of what we do. That’s why we have a team of more than 500 scientists and professionals and a rigorous safety process to analyze every ingredient—before we ever consider putting it in one of our products.

What does quality mean at P&G?

Quality at P&G means creating products people can trust to perform as promised, consistently and reliably. P&G works to understand what matters to consumers, translates those needs into product and package designs, applies rigorous standards in production and keeps listening after products are in use. Before any P&G product goes on sale, it goes through a mandatory, science-based safety assessment.

01

Designed for Real Life

Quality begins with the needs people bring to everyday moments: cleaning a home, caring for a child, looking after personal health or getting ready for the day.

02

Made to Perform

P&G uses science, testing, data and manufacturing expertise to help products deliver their intended performance consistently.

03

Improved by Listening

Consumer experiences help P&G understand changing expectations, identify opportunities and make products better.

04

Earned Over Time

Trust is built when a product performs as promised, purchase after purchase and year after year.

Your questions about quality

Quality means delivering a consistent, reliable product experience that earns the consumer's trust. We listen to understand what matters most to our consumers, translate those insights into product and package development and designs, apply rigorous standards during production, and continue listening and learning from consumer feedback after our products are in use to continually improve them.

Quality begins with understanding consumers and the outcomes they need. Those needs inform product, package and process choices. Science, testing, data and manufacturing expertise then help teams deliver that intended experience consistently.

Consumer feedback helps P&G understand how products perform in real life. Positive experiences show which benefits matter most, while concerns and suggestions can identify opportunities to investigate, learn and improve.

No. Preventing problems is essential, but quality also includes delivering performance, comfort, ease of use, durability and other benefits that make a meaningful difference for consumers.

People build trust when they have the experience they expect every time they use a product. Consistency turns an individual product experience into long-term confidence in a brand.

Our Consistency → Your Confidence

Consumers experience value when a product delivers a benefit that matters to them. That may mean effective performance, reliable results, durability, convenience or avoiding the need to repeat a task.

P&G continually learns and rigorously applies consumer feedback, scientific understanding, product data, regulatory standards, and manufacturing insights to improve the quality of our products. Rapid technological advances in human-led, Ai-enabled predictive monitoring, real-time in-line testing, and touchless automation improve our ability to monitor production in real-time and prevent quality issues.

Our 4-step product safety process

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Before we market a new product, we go beyond regulatory compliance to ensure every ingredient’s safety through a four-step, science-based process. We use the same process as regulatory agencies around the world, like US FDA, EPA, the EU, the WHO, and others.

1. Doubt

Before we use any ingredient, our scientists start by asking questions. If there’s any doubt about its safety or benefit to you, we won’t use it.

2. Define

We define the ingredient’s safe range using the same science-based standards as major regulatory agencies around the world.

3. Determine

We evaluate all ingredients in the product to ensure they are safe when used - both for you and the environment. If we can’t confirm that, we go back to the drawing board.

4. Diligence

Our last step never ends. Once a product is on shelves, we keep up with new information on each ingredient, collaborating on new products safety methods with regulatory agencies and scientists outside of P&G to make sure we’re up to date.

Most importantly, we listen to you—making sure the products we design meet your expectations for safety and performance.

Your questions about product safety

Yes. We evaluate every product and ingredient before we market them; these evaluations are a mandatory part of product development beginning early in product design. Learn more about our four-step science-based process on this link.

P&G continues to review new information about ingredients and listens to consumer feedback about safety and performance. We collaborate with regulatory agencies and scientists outside the company on product-safety methods.
